SRINAGAR: Design Innovation Center, Islamic University of Science and Technology organized a workshop ‘Innovation Frontiers- lll’ on 3D Printing.
According to a statement issued here, the students from IUST and Kashmir university participated in the event. “Emphasizing on the importance and future of this disruptive technology, the workshop involved hands on sessions of 2D and 3D designing,” it said.
The workshop, the statement said, started with an introduction to 3D printing technology and its industrial and social applications and was followed by hands on session of building basic shapes in Autodesk Inventor software and converting them to 3D drawings.
The participants were then given a chance to see their drawings by using two 3D printers available at DIC Lab. The participants modeled and 3D printed parts of a simple working mechanism. The workshop was concluded by an informative talk on the future of 3D printing and how this technology is being termed as the 4th industrial revolution.
IUST is the first institution in the Valley to establish Design Innovation Center (DIC) in association with University of Delhi, the statement said.
