Villager injured in landmine blast in Uri

Baramulla: Abdul Hamid Lone, 40, son of Abdul Rashid Lone, resident of Rachawali village in Nambla Uri, was injured in a landmine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in border town Uri on Tuesday. Official sources said that he was cutting grass for his animals in a forested area near the village near army’s Rustum post when he stepped on a landmine.
Locals said that the landmine blast made a huge sound, at which people rushed towards the spot and saw the injured man. They took him to sub-district hospital Uri from where he was shifted to a Srinagar hospital.
A senior police officer confirmed that a civilian was injured when he stepped on a landmine along the LoC when he was cutting grass from nearby forests for his animals. He said the man sustained grave injuries and has been shifted to a Srinagar hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
