Middle aged woman injured seriously in stone pelting incident at Sopore

Srinagar: A middle aged woman received serious injuries when a vehicle in which she was traveling in came under stone pelting in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Wednesday.

A private vehicle bearing registration number JK05 G0415 was on its way to Sopore when a group of youth pelted stones on it on Sopore-Bandipora highway near Rahim Sahaab area of Sopore, witnesses said.

A woman boarding the vehicle suffered serious injuries due to stone pelting and the vehicle also suffered damage, they said.

The injured woman was rushed to Sub-District Hospital Sopore where the doctors referred her to Soura Medical Institute, Srinagar for advanced treatment.

The injured woman was identified as Fareeda Begum, wife of Atawullah Bhat, resident of Naidkhai.

Meanwhile police said that a case has been registered in this regard and further investigations taken up.
