SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the killing of two youth in government forces’ action and also two militants in an encounter at Shopian.

A spokesperson of the amalgam in a statement said, “Under a well-planned conspiracy, lakhs of forces in absence of any accountability have decided to go for a full fledged war against people of Kashmir and the process has been started with the genocide of youth including minor girls and boys.”

He said the “ultimate repression” is being unleashed on the innocent people of Kashmir with a sole aim of breaking their resolve towards the freedom movement.


“Because of the ultimate fear and terror unleashed by the government forces, Muhammad Ishaq Naikoo, the father of an armed youth, a resident of Kandlun, Shopian died of heart attack soon after come to know that his militant son is in a siege,” the spokesperson said. “The gravity of the situation can be gauged from this very incident as it is quite clear now that the entire Kashmir has been left the mercy of forces to push the people, especially youth to the wall.”

He said the people of Kashmir are associated with “a great and sacred cause”. “The repressive measures can cow down neither the people nor the resistance leadership,” he said.
