SRINAGAR: Kashmir Bakers and Confectioners Association in collaboration with Food Safety Wing of Drug and Food Control Organisation organised a day-long awareness programme here on Tuesday.
The programme focused on manufacturing, packing and labelling of bakery items and the overall infrastructure of bakery units.
A detailed presentation about food manufacturing practice was shared by Yamin-ul- Nabi. Moreover, packing and labelling of bakery food items was shared by Shabir Ahmed Lone.
The programme revealed that the infrastructure of bakery units must be well maintained, walls must be tiled upto six feet and floor should be marbled. The programme also emphasised on the bakery workers to be neat and clean with short hair cut and should have a separate outer dress code.
Moreover, the colour added to bakery must be in accordance with the quantity of food prepared, taking in view the quantity with ppm (parts per million).
Commissioner Food Safety Wing, Dr Abdul Kabir, Controller, Drug and Food Control J&K, Latika Khujuri, Deputy Controller, Drug and Food Control Organisation, Irfana Ahmed headed the programme.
President, Kashmir Bakers and Confectioners Association, Umer Mukhtar and Assistant Controller Food Safety Wing, Hilal Ahmed Mir were also present on the occasion.
