Srinagar: A massive protest demonstration was held here on Tuesday by Jammu and Kashmir Land Donors, PHE ITI plumbers and CP workers, demanding release of their long pending wages.
The Protesters demanded the immediate release of wages stuck from more than 45 months and implementation of SRO-520 promised by the state administration.
The PHE daily wagers gathered in here Press Enclave chanting slogans “We want justice”, “Release back wages” and “Implement SRO-520” against state administration and further protesters marched towards office of Chief Engineering Kashmir PHE department Srinagar.
“We want our back pending wages from last 45 months especially from Uri division to be release within no time”, said Tanveer Hussain, President All J&K ITI, Land Donors, CP workers, NBCL. “Our children are being thrown out of schools because of unpaid fee”. He added.
The protesters also demanded regularization of PHE priority based workers holding ITI diplomas as they have no other sourced of income to run their families.
The Union said that they are hopeful that the Governor NN Vohra would look in our long pending demands as soon as possible and help them to get out of this “miserable” situation.
“We are facing financial problems from more than last three years, said one of the protesters. “We have been set on back burner by the department”. He added.
The protesters threatened that if their demands are not met they would be forced to come on roads and go for indefinite hunger strike.
