PAMPORE: A local court on Tuesday sentenced a man in a cheque bounce case and awarded him six years of imprisonment and directed to pay Rs. Six lakh to the complainant.
Judicial Magistrate Pampore Fozia Paul convicted a man in a cheque bounce case and awarded him 6 months imprisonment under section 138 of negotiable instrument Act.
The court also directed the convict to pay compensation of Rs 6 lacs to the complainant to compensate the suffering besides the legal expenses incurred by the complainant for none of his fault, court officials told Kashmir Reader.
In 2015, Farooq Ahmad Mir, resident of Hatiwara Lethpora, Awantipora through his Advocate Fayaz Ahmad Lone filed a complaint against the accused for issuing a cheque Rs 3. Lacs in order to liquidate the liability.
