SRINAGAR: The Awami Action Committee (AAC) has paid tributes to its founder “Shaheed-e-Millat” Moulana Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq (RA) and over 70 martyrs of Hawal massacre on their 30th anniversary as per the Islamic calendar.
A statement issued here said that a Majlis-e-Quran Khawani was held for “Shaheed-e-Millat” and other martyrs at Mirwaiz Manzil Nigeen.
“On this day 25 Shawal 1410, as per the Islamic calendar, unidentified gunmen fired at people’s beloved leader Shaheed-e-Millat while as forces opened the barrels of their guns at Hawal in downtown Srinagar killing more than 70 innocent people who were shouldering the coffin of their leader,” the statement said.
The AAC while paying rich tributes to “Shaheed-e-Millat”, Hawal massacre martyrs and “Shaheed-e-Masjid” Moulana Mushtaq Ahmed, said, “These leaders have left great footprints and a sacred cause behind which needs to be followed in true letter and spirit. Each member and worker of the organisation is committed to the goal or right to self-determination.”
The AAC strongly condemned the arrests made by NIA and the frequent CASOs across Kashmir stating that these “repressive” measures can never break the resolve of freedom loving people of Kashmir but would further strengthen their will to fight “oppression”.
