SRINAGAR: The joint resistance leadership (JRL) on Monday said that government forces are spilling “innocent” blood here to crush the Kashmiri resistance, and held the pro-India politicians responsible for the bloodshed.
The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said, “Indian trigger happy forces first kill innocents and then legitimise these killings by calling the slain as stone throwers. Same was done in case of Redwani killings where three innocents including a 15-year-old girl were butchered under the same pretext. We want to ask these killers that why innocent Andleeb was killed in cold blood. What was her crime?”
The leadership said the “trigger happy” forces are deployed to kill Kashmiris as they enjoy immunity from prosecution. “This is the consequence of the immunity provided to them by pro-India Kashmiri politicians, assembly, parliament and panchayat members, their parties who legislate and implement laws like AFSPA to shelter these criminals and their crimes,” it said.
The leaders said Kashmiris cannot be cowed down by such “criminal acts” and “our resistance struggle will continue at all costs”.
Slamming the international community over its silence on killings in Kashmir, Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik said, “We want to ask the international community that isn’t the blood of innocent 15-year-old Andleeb enough to awaken their conscience. Aren’t Kashmiris part of humanity and don’t they also have human rights which need to be protected?”
Meanwhile, the JRL leaders and activists on Monday staged a peaceful protest against the killing of a teenage girl Andleeb, Shakir Ahmad Khanday and Irshad Ahmad at Redwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on July 7.
According to statement, police detained several JRL leaders who were participating in the protest.
