Police arrest seven persons with drugs, arms in north Kashmir

Baramulla: A special team of Police Station Karnah along with BSF personnel arrested four persons along with contraband substance, arms and ammunition during a Naka checking in Sadpora Karnah.
A Police statement said that during checking, two Sumo vehicles bearing registration numbers JK 05-A 4359 and JK 09-8135 were intercepted and upon their search about 12 kilograms of contraband substance was recovered from the possession of Rafiq Ahmad son of Ghulam Hussain and Zakir Hussain son of Syed Alam both residents of Nawagabra Karnah.
“While carrying out search of another vehicle JK09- 8135, two persons were found travelling with AK-56 rifles. During search 2 AK-56 rifles, 2 magazines and AK 56 rounds were recovered from their possession. They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Malik son of Muzafar Malik and Shabir Gakhad son of Abdul Rashid both residents of Hajitarah Karnah,” statement said.
The Police statement said that all of them were arrested and a case FIR No. 45/ 2018 under section 8/21 NDPS Act, 7/25 Arms Act, 13 ULA was registered in Police Station Karnah.
Meanwhile Baramulla police said that they arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
“Acting on specific information about the movement of a drug peddler along with the contraband substance, a Police party from Police Station Boniyar established a Naka near forest check post Boniyar and recovered a small packet of 32 gms of brown from his procession. He was identified as Shahid Qayoom Khan son of Abdul Qayoom Khan who is a Sarpanch and resident of Turkanjan Boniyar.
An FIR No. 31/2018 has been registered in Police Station Boniyar.
Another drug peddler Burhan Khan son of Syed Khan resident of Gountmulla Sheeri, presently residing at Khojbagh Baramulla was apprehended and brown sugar weighing about 30 grams was recovered from his possession, police statement said.
Accordingly case FIR No. 33/2018 was registered in Police Station Boniyar and investigation taken up.
A police statement also said that a special squad of Sopore Police apprehended a drug peddler Firdous Ahmad Payer son of Ghulam Qadir Payer resident of Anwar Abad Salkoot Kupwara and recovered 10 bottles of Phosphate Hydrochloride Max Coff-T from his possession.
A case FIR No. 83/2018 under section 8/22 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Dangiwacham, a police statement said. “He is a chronic peddler and was selling the drugs to the youth of the area.”
