Srinagar: Former Sadr-e-Riyasat and senior Congress leader Dr Karan Singh Tuesday demanded renaming of Jammu airport after his father late Maharaja Hari Singh.

In a letter written to the Indian Prime Minister, Narinder Modi, the former Member Parliament said that renaming Jammu airport after the late Maharaja was a long pending demand of the Jammuites. He also highlighted Maharaja’s role in developmental work in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

“”I am writing to strongly urge that this should be done, as it would be a fitting tribute to the man who not only introduced a number of social welfare and developmental measures in the state but also signed the instrument of accession on October 26, 1947,” Dr Singh added.
