BARAMULLA: Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department in collaboration with Regional Office Baramulla and Kupwara under the Chairamanship of Janak Raj Angural conducted Government of India sponsored campaign ‘GRAM SWARAJ ABHIYAAN’ in the remote villages of Balhama and Chijhama under the Branch Office – Rohama and Tregpora covered under district Baramulla.
Vipan Gupta, Senior Manager, Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion Department, J&K Grameen Bank reviewed the progress of Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan Phase 2 that started from 01 June 2018 to 15 August 2018 conducted in 187 villages of Regional Office Baramulla and Kupwara.
Gupta highlighted that during the campaign, the bank received 5972 enrollments under the GoI’s social security schemes viz., PMJDY, PMJJBY, PMSBY & APY.
He said, “The ongoing campaign is in a mission mode and is aimed to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households, spreading awareness about government welfare schemes, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasise national priorities including cleanliness and strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions,” an official handout read.
“During Phase 1 of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, the bank has conducted 475 camps by received 11774 enrolments in just 19 villages and stands at number one position in the J&K state. The set target of 8651 was achieved successfully by the bank,” he said.
Gupta strictly advised all the branch heads of Baramulla and Kupwara region to open the accounts of unbanked population of backward areas of these given 187 villages under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana (PMSBY). He advised all branches to attain 100% saturation under social security schemes in these 187 villages given by DFS, read the handout.
Regional Manager Baramulla G R Bhat and Regional Manager Kupwara Abdul Khaliq Malik made people aware about Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, a GoI programme for covering the poor population in the villages of districts Baramulla and Kupwara advising all the braches falling in their region to enroll more and more persons under the social security schemes “so that the poor and unreachable population may also get the benefits of these schemes”.
They also advised the bank staff for door-to-door banking under this campaign so that everyone should get benefitted.
The campaign mainly focused on enrolling more and more individuals under the aforementioned Social Security Schemes.
Branch Heads, Ghulam Mohiddin Hajam and Bashir Ahmed Bhat also made efforts to aware people regarding use of social security schemes. They talked about the various lending schemes tailored by the bank for general public available on easy EMIs i.e. housing loan, transport loan, car loan, education loan, etc., where rate of interest charged by the bank is very competitive.
RuPay debit cards were also distributed to customers on the occasion.
