SRINAGAR: A 21-day summer school on “Production and Post-production interventions to increase returns from livestock enterprises: A step towards doubling farmers’ income” sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research New Delhi concluded at SKUAST-K’s Shuhama campus here on Monday.
According to a statement issued here, the summer School was attended by assistant and associate professors from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & J&K.
The valedictory function was chaired by Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K Professor Nazeer Ahmed. Director Education SKUAST-K, Prof Shakil Wani, Director Research, Prof M Y Zargar, Director Planning Dr Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Dean FVSc & AH, Prof Sarfaraz A Wani, various Heads of Divisions of FVSc & AH, Scientists and participants of summer school were present on the valedictory session.
The course director Dr Azmat Alam Khan welcomed the guests and presented the report of the summer school that comprised of lectures by the eminent scientists of SKUAST-K, invited lectures from experts outside the state, practical demonstration and field visits.
Prof Nazeer congratulated the organizers for organizing the summer school on the pertinent topic.
Some of the participants who spoke on the occasion expressed satisfaction about the manner in which training was organized.
Certificates were distributed among the participants and best participant as well best resource person were also felicitated. Dr Yogesh Kumar Asst Professor from Gujarat was adjudged as the best participant on basis of weekly tests, overall interest shown during theory and practical sessions and participation in discussions. Professor Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Head Division of Animal Biotechnology was adjudged as the best resource person on basis of feedback from participants.
The part II of training manual of Summer School was also released on the occasion.
