SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday said Burhan Wani is a role model whose “martyrdom” is a milestone and an inspiration for generations to come.
Geelani said in a statement paid tributes to slain Hizb commander and his associates on their 2nd anniversary saying these “brave-hearts” will be remembered for their exemplary sacrifices towards the movement.
“Those serving their nation and sacrificing their precious lives are beacon lights of our cherished movement. Burhan Wani rejuvenated the freedom movement,” he said. “Those brutally massacred during peoples uprising in 2016 presented invaluable and exemplary sacrifices. The nation will never budge from its stand and will carry its mission till it is taken to its logical end.”
Hurriyat chairman also cautioned people against the “deceitful” politics of pro-India politicians, saying the Indian political discourse lacks ethics and moral values.
“I appeal my nation to stand like a firm rock against all odds and exhibit unity and strength in their folds as Indian agencies are hatching conspiracies and are desperate to create infighting, disunity and civil war like situations among our folds,” he said.
Geelani also criticised authorities for imposing curbs, restrictions and clamping curfew in Tral and adjoining areas.
