Kulgam: National Conference general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar on Thursday said “persecution and harassment of the youth was the main legacy of the fallen PDP-BJP government”.

According to a statement, Sagar said, “It is because of the previous government’s policies that there exists an unprecedented trust deficit in the youth of the state who have been lied to and betrayed by the PDP. The party sought their support on various planks and promises and ended up breaking every single promise it made. The psychological effect of this deceit has been disastrous and has led to a situation today where even educated, employed youth are choosing the path of armed militancy.”

Addressing a commemorating convention organised to pay tributes to late party leader and former MLA Kulgam, Ghulam Nabi Dar, the NC general secretary said the youth of the state were the primary victims of the PDP-BJP government as they were robbed of their sense of dignity and their right to a peaceful, prosperous existence.

The NC General Secretary, while paying glowing tributes to late party leader and Former MLA Kulgam, Ghulam Nabi Dar said that late Dar Sahab’s legacy was that of selfless service and diligence in being at the disposal of his people.

Meanwhile, Party vice president Omar Abdullah also paid tributes to Ghulam Nabi Dar and said Dar was a valued leader.
