Sopore: Residents of Sopore on Thursday protested against the ‘arbitrarily’ transfer of a gynecologist from Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sopore to Baramulla Hospital.
Blaming the health department of step motherly treatment with the Sopore, the Protestors said competent doctors are being transferred from Sopore.
“Dr Rakshinda were posted in the Sub District Hospital Sopore and then transferred to Baramulla Hospital on Tuesday,” an official said.
Sopore residents said that Sub District Hospital is centrally located in North Kashmir’ and ‘Mother and child Hospital Sopore’ is the solitary hospital that caters to maternity cases for patients of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora.
“We need more competent doctors in Sopore Hospital but irony is that keep transferring the better ones. The transfer of gynecologist in the hospital will affect patient care,” Kulsuma, a patient at the hospital told Kashmir Reader.
Patients added that transfer of the Gynecologist from the hospital is not the first transfer case in recent times but it looks a deliberate move.
“These kind of transfers hits patient care in Sopore and adjoining areas,” a group of attendants in the Sopore hospital said.
Earlier many would talk about the political interference in transfers but we don’t know what has triggered this transfer,” claimed a senior employee at the hospital.
Director Health, Kashmir Saleem ul Rehman told Kashmir Reader that the gynecologist was transferred due to the requirement at district hospital Baramulla.
“There are 5 Gynecologists in SDH Sopore and one among them was transferred to District Hospital Baramulla. If we feel that we need one more Doctor at SDH sopore, we will do the required arrangements,” he said.
