Bandipora: A female teacher alleging “patriarchal harassment” by a male colleague has alleged that officials were patronizing the accused teacher instead of punishing him.
The female teacher posted at GMS Turkpora in Bandipora district had complained about harassment by a male colleague last year and sought punishment for him.
Since then she has knocked many doors, including the district officials and CM’s grievance cell, but says that the accused is protected by the patronizing officials who are not implementing the ‘punishment transfer’ orders.
Instead, she alleged, the local Education officers are repeatedly ignoring the orders from higher authorities, to the convenience of the accused.
In November 2017, the teacher registered her grievance with the Chief Minister’s grievance cell, narrating how her complaints against her colleague, Nisar Ahmad Wani, were being ignored.
“I have faced harassment at the workplace that was proved by the authorities but the officer of the education department are shielding the accused teacher as he is influential and I being a female, nobody comes to my rescue,” the teacher said.
She alleged the ZEO and CEO were protecting the accused.
“Over six orders were issued against the accused but education officers implemented none which shows how sensitive they are towards harassment, “ she said. “they are doing all this to find a posting of choice for him adding insult to injury”
In May this year, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora ordered transfer of the accused teacher to a far-flung school in Bandipora zone after an inquiry by his office.
It also sought explanation from ZEO Quil on whey the previous orders issued by CEO were not implemented.
Though the teacher has now been relieved from his parent posting at GHS Kaloosa, and posted to UPC Chanapal, sources said the teacher is idling his days at CEO’s office. “I have no faith in the officers who played with my emotions form last eight months, now I am appealing honourable Governor to intervene so that justice can prevail. I am a victim of patriarchy” she said.
