Srinagar: Strong winds coupled with rains blew away roofs and felled trees at several places in the valley including Srinagar on Tuesday evening. Two people were injured after the roof of a shopping complex (Hanfia Complex) at Kralkhud area of Srinagar city was blown away by windstorm on Tuesday evening.
A cloudburst hit Narastan and Satoora villages of Tral, triggering flash floods in the area. According to pictures and videos roads in the area were submerged in the area.
SDM Tral Riyaz Ahmad Malik told Kashmir Reader that the cloudburst followed by flash floods hit Narastan and Satoora villages of Tral, however no loss of life or damaged was reported till last report came in.
In Srinagar, an official said scores of tents used by the Amarnath yatris at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar outskirts were also damaged due to the windstorm.
“All the yatris putting up in these tents were immediately shifted to SDA Complex Pantha Chowk,” he said.
The winds coupled with heavy rains also damaged a tin-shed and electricity transmission in Munawarabad area of Srinagar city.
Several cars were reportedly damaged in Hazratbal, Habbak, Zakura and its adjoining areas because of tree branches snapping off due to intense winds.
Some cars were also damaged inside the Kashmir University campus at Hazratbal after the branches of a Chinar tree broke off to the winds and fell on the parked vehicles.
