SRINAGAR: To ensure strict implementation of different provisions of Fertiliser Control Act 1985, Insecticide Act 1968 and other rules and regulations in agriculture, Director Law Enforcement wing of Agriculture Department J&K Abdul Rahim Samoon on Tuesday chaired a maiden introductory meeting here at Agriculture Complex, Lalmandi.
He impressed upon the officers to take all the mandatory steps to safeguard the interest of farming community viz-a-viz strict implementation of legislation, laws and other regulations in the field of agriculture, an official handout read.
He directed to establish a helpline number so that the complaints regarding the violations of different provisions with respect to different laws and orders in agriculture sector could be received and addressed well in time.
He said that enforcement wing would conduct awareness programmes across the state so that the farmers could get maximum knowhow about their rights in agriculture sector, it read.
He said, “The enforcement wing has the mandate to keep strict vigil on quality of different types of fertilisers/pesticides/insecticides and other materials used in agriculture sector, therefore, the progress and upliftment of agriculture sector is directly related to an active and vibrant enforcement wing.”
Samoon said “in the near future the department will be fully equipped with the lab infrastructure that could analyse almost all the micro- and macro-nutrients present in soil as well as the samples of different types of fertilisers and pesticides taken by the concerned officers during the inspections of different sale outlets of these products”.
He asked officers to “work with commitment and in coordination with other allied wings” as they were responsible for one of the most important assignments in any sector that is, the implementation of rules and regulations in place, the handout added
