Baltal landslide; three dead bodies recovered

Baltal: Three dead bodoes were recovered on Wednesday after a landslide and shooting stones hit Baltal base camp en route to Amarnath cave in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district late last evening.

Police officials posted at Baltal told Kashmir Reader that the bodies of three Amarnath pilgrims identified as Joyti wife of Bimal Sharma 35 a resident of Delhi Registration number 168070, Ashok Mohtoo son of Kharo Mathoo 54, a resident of Bihar Patna registration number 300838 and Shalinder Singh son of Vijay Singh 30, a resident of Delhi registration number 168700 were recovered from the debris.

They said the injured person has been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Mohammad Wagay a resident of Shangas Anantnag 20, Nand Lal son of Subnamal 60, of Jaipur Rajasthan, Mansuk Lal son of Savagi 54 of Gujrat and were referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment while as Airf Hussan Khatana son of Liyaqat Ali Khatana 23, of Kharpora Kokernag and Mohmmad Sikinder Kalas son of Mohammad Ismail 23, of Thune Kangan were discharged from hospital after given first aid.

They said that the rescue operation was under process.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon a minor flash flood hit a car parking at the Baltal base camp, but there were no injuries or casualties, reported.

Meanwhile a lady pilgrim from Andra pradesh died today due to cardiac arrest en route for the holy cave of Amarnath

Officials said that the Seemakurti Surinariyan wife of Prasadray, a resident of Andra Pradesh Registration number 024791, died due to cardiac arrest at Brarimarg Baltal around 3:00am Wednesday morning, officials said.

They said she was immediately rushed to the Base Camp hospital where she was declared brought dead.
