SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference on Monday said it is because of the unbridled powers given to government forces and the lack of accountability that innocent civilians are “brutally” killed and wounded every day.
A spokesperson of the conglomerate in a statement condemned the use of indiscriminate force on people of Valley especially in south Kashmir, terming it “an open aggression and worst form of state terrorism”.
“The brutal use of force and unleashing the reign of terror by killing innocents, blinding and maiming youth, vandalising properties of people, torching orchards and harassing the elderly lot has become a become a routine affair in Kashmir and the government forces continue to kill Kashmiris at their will and wish,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the directions of chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior Hurriyat leaders Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Abdul Rashid Untoo, Ghulam Nabi Najar, Abdul Majeed Wani, Jaffer Kashmiri visited Khrew Pampore and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family of a slain teenage boy Faizan Ahmad Poswal.
“Even teenagers and minor boys are not being spared by the trigger-happy forces and are being shot and killed day in and day out,” the Hurriyat leaders said on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the conglomerate has strongly denounced authorities for not handing over the mortal remains of Mudasir Ahmed Bhat of Old Barzulla to his “family”, saying that “denying the return of mortal remains of a martyr to his family is not only condemnable but inhuman (as well)”.
