The man of the moment is Mohamed Salah. Since joining Liverpool in 2017, this talented footballer has been on fire. With blistering pace, hold on the ball and an eye for goals, Salah has been tormenting defences and scoring for fun( and before I forget, he has a smile that can make your day)
Mohamed Salah Ghaly was born on the 15th of June 1992 in Nagrig, Egypt and started his senior career with his hometown club El Mokawloon in the Egyptian Premier league. Salah played every single game in 2011-12 however following the Port Said Disaster, the Egyptian football association cancelled the remainder of the season. With no football on the horizon, Salah and the Egypt under 23 played a friendly with F.C.Basel, Salah only played the second half but still scored twice. The Swiss club invited him to training before signing him in June 2012 for an undisclosed fee. Basel chairman had set up that friendly purely to watch Salah play. He later said “I have never seen a player with so much speed in my entire life”
Salah scored his first professional goal against Al-Ahly in 2010. He scored his first Champions League goal against Maccabi Tel-Aviv in 2013 and in that game he refused to shake hands with the Israeli team but in the return leg he offered fist bumps instead of handshakes.
Salah’s performances attracted a lot of interest from the big guns across Europe but it was Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea who got his signature of for a fee of 11 million pounds in 2014.
Salah became a superstar in Rome and finished his first season with the Romans as their player of the season as well as being their top goal scorer in all competitions.
His brilliant performances steered Salah a move to Liverpool for a then club-record fee of 36.9 million pounds. He quickly became a superstar of the club. Salah scored 44 and assisted 13 goals for the Merseyside club last season and went on to break record after record for the club, The Premier League and Football overall.
Salah was the top scorer for Egypt with five goals during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifications, including both goals in the decisive 2–1 victory over Congo. The talented footballer sent the entire stadium and his country into an absolute swoon after converting a last minute penalty to send Egypt to their first world cup since 1990. While this was all going, on Salah’s family were robbed but when the thief was caught Salah refused to press any charges, he actually gave the thief some money to get his life together and even tried to find him a job. How can you not love this man??
After his heroics in the World Cup qualifying rounds, Salah was awarded a villa by Mamdouh Abbas, the former president of Zamalek but he refused and insisted the businessman to make a donation to his hometown instead.
Being a Muslim, Salah celebrates all his goals by performing the Sajood.
The man is loved by absolute everyone around the globe and the fans have given him the nickname “The Pharaoh”, “The Egyptian King” and “Egyptian Messi”
This man has achieved quite a lot in the last couple of years which has made him a global superstar.
Let’s just take a second and appreciate what this man has achieved in such a little time with his hard work, strong determination and never giving up.
