Shopian villagers allege army soldiers of vandalizing houses, beating people

Srinagar: Residents of Kundalan village of Shopian in south Kashmir Monday alleged army soldiers of going berserk and vandalizing their houses and assaulting people without any provocation.

They alleged that army late last night came to the village and started damaging residential houses and beat two families who resisted the act.

Locals said that windowpanes of three houses were damaged by the army “without any reason”.

They added that army soldiers also beat families of Muhammad Sadiq Parray and Bashir Ahmad Dar in the dead of night.

One inhabitant Zahoor Ahmad Dar has received injuries who has been admitted to sub district hospital Shopian.

District Hospital sources told Kashmir Reader that Zahoor has been referred to SMHS Srinagar.
