Anantnag: Militants fired at a group of police and CRPF in Dalipora village of Pulwama district on Sunday, but no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
According to sources, bike-borne militants opened fire at a joint patrol of police and paramilitary in Dalipora. The attack took place at about 1:20 in the afternoon.
“It was, in fact, a weapon snatching bid, which was foiled by the alert police and CRPF personnel,” police sources told Kashmir Reader.
Officially, police maintained that no firing took place on their men.
“There was some sound in the area, apparently of fire crackers. Our men, part of the patrol, negated reports of any firing on them,” Pulwama SSP Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam said.
Following the shootout, the entire area was cordoned off and searches were carried out to nab the attackers, but they had fled the scene by then.
