Unarmed civilians killed in garb of gunfights: DFP

SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) on Saturday said the “trigger happy” men in uniform have become habitual of killing unarmed civilians in the garb of gunfights and the irony is that government forces are not being asked anything about such innocent civilian killings.
“Had any authority at some level asked the men in uniform about using blind and brutal force against the unarmed people, the civilian deaths could have been stopped,” a JKDFP spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
He strongly condemned the “brutal” killing of a teenage boy Faizan Ahmad in government forces’ firing at south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. He also paid tributes to armed youth Sajad Ahmad Shah of Handwara who was killed in a gunfight with forces in Pulwama.
The spokesperson expressed solidarity with the parents of Faizan and said that “men in uniform have devastated the family by killing their innocent child”. “There is no compensation to the innocent killings and only the affected families can feel the pain of brutalities of the Indian forces,” he said.
He said on one hand, the cordon and search operations and night raids of government forces have made the lives of youngsters a hell, and on the other, “the men in uniform are not losing any chance to kill our youth”.
