Two injured by pellets, surgery fails to save eyesight

Srinagar: At least two persons injured by pellets that were fired by police in Pulwama district on Friday were admitted to SMHS Hospital and underwent surgery. One of them has lost eyesight in one eye.
According to officials, Irfan Ahmad and Ashiq Ahmad from Pulwama are undergoing treatment at SMHS Hospital following the serious pellet injuries to them.
“Irfan has received pellet injury in the abdomen while Ashiq has lost eyesight in one eye due to pellet injury,” a doctor at SMHS said.
He said the injured persons had already been operated on and their condition was being assessed to decide on a treatment plan.
Medical Superintendent of SMHS, Dr Saleem Tak, told Kashmir Reader that both the injured were in stable condition.
“They are out of danger now after the surgery,” he said.
