SRINAGAR: Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Friday expressed grave concern over the deteriorating health condition of the incarcerated party chairperson Syeda Aasiya Andrabi.
DeM spokesperson Rifat Fatima in a statement said that after receiving court orders, the police took Andrabi – who is under arrest along with party general secretary Nahida Nasreen and press secretary Sofi Fehmeeda for the past more than two months – for medical check up to the police hospital.
“At the hospital, the doctors have said that her condition is not good and suggested medication and a hygienic environment for her to recover,” she said.
Rifat said Andrabi is an asthma patient suffering from heart enlargement and other multiple ailments, so needs regular checkups and a hygienic environment to get better. “As all of us know, the required treatment is not possible as long as Andrabi Sahiba continues to remain in custody,” she said.
Rifat said Aasiya is undergoing a critical condition due to continuous detention for the last three years and denial of treatment while she has been in Jammu and other jails of the state.
“This is nothing but political vengeance. Denying proper medical care to the party chairperson is a well-thought-out conspiracy of Indian government who wants to kill her in detention,” she said.
She warned that if any untoward incident happens to the party chairperson, it will have serious repercussions. “This family has been specifically targeted as India knows that they will never budge and will continue to oppose its illegal occupation with all their might,” she said.
Rifat also urged the people to hold special prayers for Aasiya Andrabi so that Allah (SWT) grants her speedy recovery.
