SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Friday visited the holding area for Amarnath pilgrims at Pantha Chowk here to inspect the facilities available for yatries there.
The DC while taking an on-the-spot inspection of the holding area instructed the concerned departments for making a fire tender and an ambulance available there. He also instructed for enhancing facilities allowing for increased capacity for accommodating more pilgrims there.
He also directed the concerned for improving the basic facilities including sanitation at the holding area. He was informed that additional toilets are being constructed there for the convenience of the pilgrims.
It was informed that a nodal officer has been designated to ensure smooth and hassle-free operation of the langar at the holding area.
Meanwhile District Development Commissioner Bandipora Khursheed Ahmad Sanai Friday visited the Yatra transit camp at Shadipora Sumbal to take stock of the arrangements put in place for smooth conduct of Amarnathji Yatra.
ASP Bandipora, SDM Sonawari, District Nodal Officer ISM Health Bandipora besides other officers accompanied the DDC.
The DDC reviewed the facilities which have been kept in place by the district administration for the Yatris. He asked the concerned to discharge their duty diligently and ensure that the yatris do not face any kind of inconvenience with regard to sanitation, drinking water, transport, electricity, security, and essential commodities.
The DDC said that all possible assistance should be provided to the pilgrims. The DDC also inspected various blocks set up by various departments at the transit camp. He interacted with yatris and staff members as well.
Earlier, SDM sumbal briefed the DDC about the yatra arrangements.
