People subjected to harassment: Hurriyat (M)

Srinagar: Mirwaiz led-Hurriyat on Thursday strongly condemned the nocturnal raids in various parts of Kashmir, and said that under the garb of search operations, people of all ages are subjected to worst form of “harassment and torture”, while properties worth lakhs are vandalised by the forces.
A Hurriyat spokesperson in a statement issued here said, “Authorities have made it a regular affair to harass and instil fear among the people and it seems that harassing and warning people with dire consequences has been made a formal policy of the rulers in Kashmir.”
Meanwhile, APHC senior leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza while addressing various public meetings in south Kashmir condemned “the reign of terror” unleashed in all south Kashmir districts. He said people of entire south Kashmir have been left at forces’ mercy as almost all the affairs here are managed by the thousands of forces personnel, who even check and frisk the public transport vehicles anytime they wish to.
Waza also visited the residence of 25-year-old Nisar Ahmed Bhat of Krapar, Shangas who was killed in an encounter at Machil and also conveyed the condolence to the family members on behalf of APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Waza paid rich tributes to all the martyrs of Kashmir struggle and said that it’s the moral obligation of people of Kashmir to safeguard the mission of martyrs and to take the same to its logical conclusion.
“Youth are offering priceless sacrifices and it’s the collective responsibility of resistance leadership and people to remain steadfast towards the movement,” he said, adding“repressive measures are all set to break the resolve of freedom loving people of Kashmir”.
