PULWAMA: Clashes erupted in Bellow village of Pulwama after gunshots were heard during a CASO launched by forces on Wednesday evening, reports said.
An official said that forces cordoned off the Astan Mohalla Below Village after receiving information about the presence of militants there.
Reports said that gunshots were heard after a cordon was laid in the locality followed by clashes between youth and government forces, local sources told Kashmir Reader.
The youth hurled rocks on the forces which responded by aerial firing, tear gas shelling to disperse them, locals said.
SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Chaudhary has confirmed to Kashmir Reader about eruption of clashes in the Bellow village and firing after during the CASO there.
He said that the joint team of SOG, army and CRPF have launched cordon and Search operation (CASO) in Bellow village of Rajpora area of Pulwama after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the village.
A police source confirmed to Kashmir Reader that heavy clashes erupted between youth and government during search operation. However no one was injured during the clashes, he said.
The heavy clashes and search operation was going when this report was filled.
Meanwhile, militants lobbed a grenade towards a police station in Pulwama on Wednesday evening. However no loss of life or injury and damage to the property in the attack was reported, a police officer told Kashmir Reader.
Sources said some aerial shots were fired by a police personnel posted at police station after the explosion.
“No loss to life or property with the Grenade explosion, SSP Pulwama Mohammad Asalam Choudry confirmed to Kashmir Reader.
Sources said soon after the attack, forces launched manhunt to trace the attackers.
