Budgam: In an instance of sheer negligence by the University of Kashmir (KU), the second semester students of B.Sc Social Work and Computer Sciences at Degree College Beerwah appearing in their examinations were made to wait for one and half hour for the question papers to be served to them.
The aggrieved students told Kashmir Reader over phone that they were appearing in Social Work and Computer Science papers on Tuesday which was scheduled to begin at 10:30 am and end at 12:30 pm.
“But half the time was over and we were yet to receive the question booklets,” the students alleged. “It seems we have been neglected by the KU authorities,” they added.
“Last year they delayed three papers deliberately and their examinations were delayed for a year and this year we were forced to sit in exam halls without question booklets for one and a half hour,” the students rued.
Sources from the college said that social work is being taught in three colleges of valley including the Beerwah college. They said the University had sent papers to other colleges but forgot to send the papers to Beerwah college.
“Even though principal intimated the Controller examinations in morning but the negligence on the part of KU authorities led to the delay in sending question booklets,” a source from college said.
“When papers did not reach in proper time we again communicated the problem to KU examination controller, and he sent the question paper on WhatsApp and asked to print them locally,” he added.
The question papers were distributed to students after getting them printed, he said.
Controller Examination, KU, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, admitted the negligence but said it was not deliberate.
“Some students who opt the subject late, get updated late in KU records,” Bhat said. “So it is the reason why they did not get question booklet on proper time. There is no issue in printing the question booklet locally by the college authorities”
