Narrow escape as tree branch snaps in Kangan school

KANGAN: Students and staff of a government school had a narrow escape as a large branch of a tree fell in the school premises in Kangan area of Ganderbal district on Saturday afternoon.
Officials said the big branch snapped and fell in the premises of Government Boys High School Charwan Kangan at at 12:30 pm injuring a staffer.
Shamima Bano, Lab Technician of the school got minor injuries while students and other staff had narrow escape. The snapped branch damaged some furniture of the school kept in the compound.
“We are thank full to our teachers, who heard the cracking sound and quickly covered us for preventing injuries,” a student of the school said.
Tehsildar Kangan, Mushtaq Ahmad Bijard later ordered cutting of poplar trees from the school premises within two days.
“I have ordered concerned Nabi Tehsildar Kangan to provide the magisterial assistance to the school authorities so that the poplar tree could be removed from the school premises within two days,” Bijard told Kashmir Reader.
