SRINAGAR: Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference on Thursday condemned the “policy of repression and suppression” against people especially the youth, and also the arrest of a pro-freedom activist Abdul Qayoom Mattoo and other eight persons on the eve of Eid in Kishtwar.
“(This) is unjustified and the worst form of vengeance,” Hurriyat (G) chief spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
He condemned the continuous house detention of amalgam chairman Syed Ali Geelani and placing of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik and Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai under house arrest.
Meanwhile, according to statement, a Hurriyat (G) delegation comprising Umar Adil Dar, Ishfaq Ahmad and Abdul Rashid visited SKIMS, Soura to enquire about the wellbeing of a youth Abdul Majid who was injured in forces’ “shootout”.
“The youth is in ICU in critical condition, battling for life,” the delegation according to statement said and prayed for his early recovery.
The delegation also expressed solidarity with the family of injured youth.
