BARAMULLA: Heavy rains on Wednesday evening led to flash floods in Cholaan village in border town Uri due to which a number of residential houses are under threat while agricultural land located along the stream was affected.
Local residents said the agricultural land belonging to Mohammad Ramzan Banday spread over dozens of kanals was badly affected by flash floods because the department of Flood Control has failed to construct protection wall along stream banks.
Residents said they have approached the concerned authorities number of times but nobody paid heed to them. No one from local administration visited the affected village, they said.
SDM Uri Baser-ul-Haq Choudary, however, said that he has passed directions for necessary action.
He said he directed the concerned department for construction of protection wall as soon as possible “which is sanctioned by department very earlier”.
