SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has condemned the booking of its provincial president Abdul Qayoom Mattoo and eight others in “fake cases” to “shield those who exhibited hooliganism in Kishtwar on Eid day”.
A JKDFP spokesperson in a statement issued here said that a few anti-social elements tried to provoke Muslims before and after Eid prayers in Kishtwar however the timely intervention of Abdul Qayoom and others prevented the situation from turning to worse.
“It was Abdul Qayoom who controlled Muslims and convinced them not to react. It is unfortunate that police have registered case against him and left the hooligans unaccountable, which is shameful,” he said. “The policy of subjugation and repression against the pro-freedom people in nook and corner has touched new heights.”
Terming the registration of cases against Abdul Qayoom Mattoo and others as unjustified and “worst form of vengeance”, the spokesperson said that authorities should instead arrest those elements who tried to provoke Muslims of the area.
