Srinagar: A Civilian and a policeman were killed while two army soldiers and a civilian sustained injuries during a gunfight between militants and government forces in Srigufwara area of south Kashmir’s Anatnang district on Friday.
New agency GNS reported that during early exchange of firing two civilians, 2 Army soldiers and a cop of JK Police sustained injuries. The injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospital where one civilian and cop succumbed to their injuries.
Quoting police official the reports said that while the cordon was being laid militants resorted to indiscriminate firing in which two army soldiers, two civilians got injured while a policeman got killed. The civilians were rushed to hospital where one of them succumbed and the other was being treated.
Meanwhile, sources identified the slain civilian as Muhammad Yousuf Rather and the injured as wife of Rather, namely Hafeeza.
