SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday said New Delhi and its supporters in state are employing every tool to break the resolve of people of Kashmir and resistance leadership.
“Everyday Kashmir witnesses the dance of death in every village and street wherein young boys are martyred selectively in forces’ action,” a Hurriyat (M) spokesperson said in a statement issued here. It urged people to remain steadfast and stay united till the final goal is achieved.
He said that it was because of the “stubborn approach” of New Delhi that Kashmir issue continues to linger with the result the Kashmir dispute may take an ugly turn in the years ahead.
“It is high time that Delhi must shun its rigid approach and take concrete steps for the resolution of the vexed dispute so that peace prevails not just in the subcontinent but in entire South Asia,” he said.
The spokesperson also paid tributes to three armed youth Danish Khalid, Adil Ahmed and Qasim who were killed in an encounter at Nazineenpora Tral, saying “the Kashmiri youth are sacrificing their lives for a great and sacred cause and it is the utmost duty of people to remain steadfast”.
He strongly condemned the arrest of a pro-freedom activist of Kishtwar district Abdul Qayoom Matoo and eight other persons and booking them under the draconian PSA. “Such repressive measures can’t force people of J&K into submission,” he said.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson expressed deep sorrow over the demise of writer and intellectual Ghulam Nabi Gowhar of Kralapora Budgam saying the deceased has contributed a lot on social and literature front and his contributions will be remembered for a long.
He termed the demise of G N Gowhar as a big loss for the social and literary circles of Kashmir.
