Ganderbal: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Wednesday organised a social service camp to serve refreshments to the devotees attending Mela Kheer Bhawani here.
Thousands of devotees including men, women and children, who had come from different parts of the country, thronged the camp and consumed the refreshment served by the student volunteers, faculty members and other officials of the varsity.
In order to preserve the environment and avoid use of plastic items, the varsity distributed the refreshments in cartons. “This was done as the university had taken a pledge, on the World Environment Day, to avoid the use of plastic material in its functions, in order to save the environment,” Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka said. He appreciated the volunteers and other staff members of the university, for participating in the camp.
Central University of Jammu (CUJ) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ashok Aima also visited the camp and lauded the CUK for providing refreshment to the devotees. He also distributed the refreshments among the devotees.
The devotees also expressed huge gratitude to the employees of the CUK for serving the refreshment.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir and Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar also hailed the DSW and others associated with holding of the camp, for making proper arrangements.
