Kashmir delegation thanks Ra’ad for Kashmir report, says it led to int’l intervention

Srinagar: The Kashmir delegation to Human Rights Council has informally met ZeidRa’ad Al Hussein, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to thank him for his historic role in the release of the first-ever UN report on Kashmir.
The delegation was led by Jammu Kashmir National Front deputy chairman, AltafHussainWani.
Ra’ad made Kashmir history last week when he released a 49-page report on the situation of human rights in Kashmir, paving the way for an international intervention.
Those who met Al-Hussein included Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, SardarAmjadYousaf Khan, Hassan al Bana, Advocate Pervez Shah, Shamim Shawl, Tayiba Bashir and Ahmed Quraishi.
Wani in a statement said, “The Kashmir delegation thanked Al-Hussein, who is from Jordan, for his timely statement in Council earlier where he praised Syed ShujaatBukhari, Kashmiri journalist assassinated in Srinagar.”
He said Kashmir delegation is participating in the 38th session of Human Rights Council.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir National Front paid rich and glowing tributes to Qazi Nissar on his 24th martyrdom anniversary. The party remembered all the martyrs of Kashmir and pledged to take their sacred mission to logical conclusion. The party also expressed grief over the recent civilian killings.
