Srinagar: Scores of Anaganwadi workers under the banner of Angawadi workers and helpers Association Jammu and Kashmir resumed their protest on Monday after the two day break on eid-ul- fitr at Pratab park here.
The protestors raised slogans against the government and Social Welfare Minister Sajad Ghani Lone and blamed him for all their troubles.
The Anganwadi workers have been protesting for last six months demanding hike in their monthly honorarium.
Blaming government for not fulfilling their long pending demands, Regional President of the association Tasleema Shabnum said that the government puts no efforts to fulfill their demands .“Government makes fake promises with us and trivializes the issue, but we will not stop our protest and will fight till justice is delivered,” Tasleema told Kashmir Reader.
Shouting anti-government slogans, President said that it is irony that even on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, government failed to meet their demands. “On this Eid we were not in a position to bear the expenses of our children and meet their demands due to our pending salaries,” one of the protestor said. “The government is ignoring our sufferings” she said.
Protestors said that they will soon call for a large protest of all workers from all the regions at Pratab Park.
Tasleema said that they will block all the roads in nearby future if the government fails to redress their genuine demands. “We are performing our duty with sincerity but unfortunately government pays deaf ear to our issue”.
Later Protestors marched towards press colony and dispersed peacefully.
