Pampore: The state-wide pen down strike of Girdawars and Patwaris entered 31st day on Wednesday as hundreds of Patwaris of Pulwama district assembled at Tehsil office Pampore and staged a protest against government for “ignoring” their demands.
The call was given by All J&K Patwar Association. The Girdawars and Patwaris across the state have been on strike for the last one month.
“We demand the fulfilment of our long-pending demands like grade pay for graduate Patwaris, conducting timely DPC of Patwaris and Girdawars, creation of GQ Circles and Patwar Halqas, ban on direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildar, enhancement of allowances for Patwaris and Girdawars, rent for Patwar Khanas (private accommodation) and construction of Patwar Khanas,” Patwar president Pulwama Manzoor Ahmad Malik told Kashmir Reader.
“We reiterate that the government should accept our demands else the stir would continue,” he added.
