Baramulla: In order to keep a check on prices and to ensure the quality of essential commodities, particularly chicken and meat during Eid-ul-Fitr, Tehsildar Pattan Syeed Faheem accompanied by SDPO Raja Majid, SHO Pattan Mir Saleem, Executive Officer Food Department, Gulam Rasool and others concerned held a market checking here on wednesday.
The team, during inspection imposed a fine of Rs 3,250 from erring shopkeepers under various provisions of weights and measures and Food Safety Standards Act 2006. The squad also destroyed 300kg of rotten vegetables and seized 12 kg of polythene from erring shopkeepers.
The officers warned the erring shopkeepers to abide by provisions of Food Safety Standards Act 2006 and sought cooperation from the general public to curb such violations by the shopkeepers.
The concerned officers of line departments were directed to keep available all the essential commodities on a reasonable rate besides maintaining quality of essential commodities.
The market checking squad was representing the departments of revenue, food, municipal committee, FCS &CA and police.
Tehsildar Syeed Faheem said that such raids will continue in future as well so that people may not face any inconvenience.
