POONCH: On the directions of District Development Commissioner Poonch, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the District Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments have deputed specialised teams to highland pastures (Dhokes) for providing medical, breeding and other allied facilities to the livestock and to prevent any loss of life due to outbreak of any epidemic.
The teams were deputed in view of large scale seasonal migration of nomadic population alongwith their livestock to highland pastures.
As many as 11 teams comprising of 33 officers from Sheep Husbandry and 12 officers from Animal Husbandry departments would cater to the livestock in all major Dhokes such as Dhokri, Sheenwali, Girjan, Baranari, Kalamund, Jabbi Totti, Andarwali, Dharan Wali, Parhra, Wansi, Beribara, Moolsar, Kaffer Katha, Sari Mastan, Pir Gali, Gurez, Hill Kaka, Noorpur, Khun Wali, Chebba Katha, Gumsar, Jaddi, Choti Marg, etc.
The teams, equipped with adequate medicines and vaccines, would camp in assigned Dhokes and would provide all requisite assistance to the nomadic population for safeguarding their livestock. These camps would be supervised and regularly monitored by the assistant surgeons. The District Animal and Sheep Husbandry officers would regularly monitor and evaluate the assignment given to the staff and ensure that the deployed officials perform their duties with punctuality.
