‘I don’t need your shelter just don’t inform army’
SHOPIAN: Video of a militant pleading residents of his native village to not inform army about militants has gone viral on social media.
Syed Naveed, a resident of Nazninpora village of Shopian can be heard pleading people to keep off from informing on militants.
“I don’t need your shelter but you too don’t inform forces about our presence” says Naveed, who deserted police to join militants.
Addressing the villagers including women Naveed further says in address caught on a video, “We pasted posters recently from Keller to Ahgam village but nobody not even army erased them, only people of Nazninpora removed them. I am aware who did that”.
Stating that his life and death was in hands of Allah he added,
“Don’t come to my funeral when I get killed. I stayed last month outside in orchards, rivers and other places. I have no need of your shelter but instead please don’t inform them. I have no issues with you, there is another village in which there is army you can call them and tell them about my presence. I chose this path and I have to die, if I have done any mistake please forgive for that,” he can be heard saying.
Some women not seen in video can be heard telling him that they would lay down their lives for him but Naveed replies that he needs no favours and don’t come to his funeral when he gets killed.
Naveed, earlier with the police, deserted the force on 20 May 2017 decamping with four rifles from FCI godown Budgam.
