Market checking in squad fines erring shopkeepers in Bandipora

BANDIPORA: On the directions of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Khursheed Ahmad Sanai, various checking squads headed by concerned tehsildars on Monday conducted market checking across the district including main markets of Bandipora, Sumbal, Aloosa and Gurez to ensure that all essential goods were available in abundance at controlled rates in all markets of the district in view of Shab-i-Qader and Eid-ul-Fitr.
Over Rs 5300 have been realised from erring shopkeepers who were violating Essential Commodities Act, besides, 2 quintals of rotten vegetables and fruits were destroyed and a large quantity of polythene seized.
At Bandipora, the checking squad headed by Tehsildar Bandipora, Mubashir Saleem Nazki realised Rs 4100 from erring shopkeepers in Bandipora town markets and destroyed one quintal rotten vegetables and fruits.
At Sumbal, the checking squad headed by Tehsildar realised Rs 1200 from erring traders for violating Essential Commodities Act in the area.
