Bandipora: A massive search operation is on in the upper reaches of forest areas of Panar and Bouthu in north Kashmir’s Bandipora, after army and militants exchanged gunfire for a brief while on Saturday evening.
On Sunday afternoon, contact was again established and some gunfire exchanged with militants, believed to be two in number, an army official said. The militants again managed to escape from the spot and vanished deep into the woods.
According to the army official, the operation is very tough as the forests are vast in spread and dense.
The vast forest area has been sealed off and public movement to areas leading to nearby forests has been halted, while intense frisking is being conducted in the adjoining village which connects with the Panar forests.
