Minor boy killed in house collapse in Rajouri

Jammu: A 16-year-old boy was today killed and another teenager was injured in a house collapse in Rajouri district, a police officer said. The ‘Kacha house’ of Babu Ram collapsed at Karul village near Baji Morh in Kalakote area all of a sudden, trapping his son and a nephew under the debris, Station House Officer (SHO) of local police station Inspector Mushtaj Ahmad told PTI.
He said the locals immediately launched a rescue operation and were later joined by a police party.
While Vinay Kumar, the nephew of the house owner, was found dead under the debris, Ajay Kumar was rescued and shifted to a hospital, he said.
Other members of the family escaped unhurt in the incident, he said.
Meanwhile District Administration Rajouri provided immediate relief assistance of Rs 1 Lakh to the next of Kin (NOK) of deceased due to collapse of kacha house here at Kurlian village of Kalakote.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, the Addl Deputy Commissioner Kalakote Khalid Hussain visited the site of tragedy and handed over relief assistance of Rs 1 Lakh to NOKs of deceased.
The administration has also sanctioned case for reconstruction of the house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Pertinently in sudden collapse of kucha house at village Kurlian tehsil Kalakote, one teenager namely Vinay Singh s/o Sunder Singh age 14 died on spot while Vijay Singh S/o Babu Ram age 17 got injured. The injured is under treatment at District Hospital Rajouri.
