To celebrate Eid as ‘black day’

Bandipora / Baramulla: A massive rally of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) supported by General Line Teachers was organised in north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Saturday for pressing for their demands.
SSA teachers also protest in Baramulla and Kupwara on Saturday. Under the banners of The United Forum, teachers from all zones of Bandipora district marched from the main chowk to mini secretariat where they shouted slogans against the government.
The protesting teachers threatened to lock down the schools from 11th of June till 13th if their demands of de-linking their salaries were not full filled fulfilled and salaries were not regularized. The ReT teachers also said that they are included in 7th pay commission.
The teachers said that their “families were being starved as the government is least bothered to sort out the issue”.
Narrating that they were being pushed to the wall, teachers announced that they will celebrate Eid as “black day” by coming out on the streets and assemble in Srinagar.
The teachers later entered thru the mini secretariat main gate and gathered in the lawn in front of Deputy Commissioners office where the organised a sit-in protest.
The teachers also provided a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Bandipora.
In Baramulla, addressing a huge gathering general secretary teacher’s forum Mohammad Rafiq Rather appealed government to release the salaries of all the SSA teachers. He said the teachers are the back bone of every nation and our SSA teachers put a new life in the education sector but government is unmoved to pay them. He threatened that if government did not release the salaries of teachers, they will stage another protest and will lock down all the schools in state.
