Sopore: Doctors at sub-district hospital Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday holds two hours pen down strike after Hospital Development Fund (HDF) employees allegedly thrashed a senior doctor during working hours.
Extending support and condemning the attack on a senior doctor, scores of doctors protested this incident.
Reports said that the incident triggered protest by doctors at the hospital demanding action against the accused.
Meanwhile Doctors Association President Dr Suhail Nayak said that hospital authorities must provide proper security to doctors on duty. “We also demand action against the accused,” he said, adding that there should be a proper certification of all those HDF employees before appointment.
Dr Suhail alleged that most of the employees working under hospital development fund are vagabond type and are always creating problems for senior doctors.
Meanwhile doctors later registered First Investigation report (FIR) against the accused. Block Medical officer Sopore Hospital, Dr Sami, was not available for comments when contacted by Kashmir Reader.
The attack on senior doctor was also condemned by civil society, trader’s federation and other groups of town and demanded strict action against the accused.
