Srinagar: Jummat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of Ramazan, was observed as “Youm-Al-Quds and Youm-e-Kashmir” in support of the right to self-determination of the people of Palestine and Kashmir.
The call to observe the day as Youm-Al-Quds and Youm-e-Kashmir was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
The largest gathering of people was witnessed at the historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta where, according to a rough estimate, almost one lakh people offered prayers. A resolution drafted by the JRL was read and passed unanimously at the central mosque. The people present pledged that the struggle of Kashmiri people for the right to self-determination will continue on all fronts till the final goal is achieved.
Massive congregations were also held at Dargah Hazratbal, Khanqa-e-Moula Srinagar, Makhdoom Sahab (RA) shrine, Khanqa-e-Faiz Panah and Chrar-e-Shareef.
People took out rallies and processions to denounce the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the Indian occupation of Kashmir.
The JRL resolution was also read out and passed in mosques across Kashmir.
A procession was taken out after the Friday prayers under the banner of Anjuman-e-Jamiat Ul Ulema Asna Asharya Islamai School Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil.
The procession started marching from Houza Elmiyah Asna Asharia Kargil, passed through Jamia Masjid at Main Bazar Lal Chowk, and returned to Islamia School and Hussainy Park Kargil.
